A native of Pamlico County, I grew up in the small village of Hobucken and attended both elementary and junior high school in Bayboro. I graduated from Pamlico County High School in 1984, and went on to graduate from Duke University in 1988. I graduated cum laude from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia in 1992.

After practicing in Macon for two years, I moved back to New Bern to begin my own practice and to be near family and friends. I have practiced in Craven and Pamlico Counties for sixteen years, and represented hundreds of clients. My practice is now focused on two main areas of the law:
